THE BENEFITS OF GRAPE SEED EXTRACT

CANCER PREVENTION
Grape seed extract has antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties that may be beneficial for reducing the risk of cancer by protecting cells from damage and supporting overall body health. However, it is important to note that research on these effects is still ongoing, and grape seed extract should not be considered a substitute for conventional medical treatments for cancer.
ANTI OXIDATIVE STRESS
Oxidative stress results from an imbalance between the production of free radicals and the body's ability to neutralize their harmful effects with antioxidants. This oxidative stress is implicated in the development of many chronic diseases, including cardiovascular disease, cancer, neurodegenerative diseases, and inflammatory disorders. The antioxidants in grape seed extract help reduce this oxidative stress by neutralizing free radicals and thus protecting cells from damage.
NEUTRALIZATION OF FREE RADICALS
Grape seeds contain powerful antioxidants such as proanthocyanidins, flavonoids, and phenolic acids. These compounds have the ability to neutralize free radicals in the body. Free radicals are unstable molecules produced during normal metabolism or in response to environmental factors such as pollution, smoking, or UV exposure. By neutralizing free radicals, antioxidants help prevent oxidative damage to cells, which is associated with various diseases, including premature aging and chronic illnesses.
CELLULAR PROTECTION
The antioxidants in grape seed extract can protect cells from oxidative damage and help prevent the breakdown of cellular structures, such as cell membranes and DNA. This may have beneficial effects on overall health, promoting cellular longevity and supporting the proper functioning of organs and body systems.
ANTI-INFLAMATORY
In addition to their antioxidant activity, certain compounds in grape seeds also have anti-inflammatory properties. Chronic inflammation is a risk factor for many diseases, including cardiovascular disease, diabetes, and certain types of cancer. The anti-inflammatory properties of grape seeds may help reduce this risk by decreasing chronic inflammation in the body.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION +
Although grapes are already rich in essential nutrients, their seed extract is even more powerful. Grape seed extract comes from the oil extracted from crushed whole red grapes and is an excellent source of antioxidants.
Because unlike oil, it contains these exceptional antioxidants: oligo-proanthocyanidins or OPCs .
The OPCs:
The history of oligo-proanthocyanidins, however, does not begin with grape seeds. It all began in 1534 with an expedition by the navigator Jacques Cartier . While the nautical expedition was stuck in the ice of the St. Lawrence, Jacques Cartier's crew fell victim to scurvy. He was then treated by the Native Americans . They concocted infusions based on pine bark.
More than 400 years later, a French scientist sought to discover what could have saved the French sailors. He then discovered certain compounds in the flavonoid class. In the 1950s, he developed a method for extracting oligoproanthocyanidins (OPCs) found in pine bark. He then turned his attention to grape seeds, in which he found similar compounds. Since grape seeds were more readily available in France, the professor began intense research. This research has highlighted the value of oligoproanthocyanidins since the 1970s.
Since then, scientific advances have allowed us to better understand the virtues of these molecules. It is now proven that oligo-proanthocyanidins have real health benefits.
Grape seed extract has been the subject of numerous studies that have determined its various health effects. Oligosaccharides (OLSPs) are even more powerful antioxidants than vitamins E and C , and they also enhance the latter. In fact, they play a vital role in protecting against free radicals.
The qualities of this extract vary greatly on the market. It's essential to choose a grape seed extract with a high enough OPC content for it to be effective. OPC content can be as high as 75%.
Beware of manufacturers who deliberately confuse consumers with polyphenols and OPCs. OPCs are part of the family of
polyphenols. The most concentrated extracts are 96% polyphenols, including 75% OPC (not 96% OPC).
